01 / MISSION

A community festival of discovery

What is
Future Ready?

Part festival. Part science museum. Part hands-on playground.

Future Ready: Black Hills STEAM Showcase is a free community event where students and families explore, build, experiment, and play their way through an evening packed with cool stuff to see and do.

It’s not a lecture. It’s not a career fair. It’s a night where you get to touch, try, and test things you’ve never gotten your hands on before.

02 / CREW

Fun for every age

Every student. Every family.
Every kind of curious.

Elementary Students

Drive and modify a robot. Watch something explode—safely. Learn how things inside the Earth are found and used. A night built for big curiosity and even bigger imaginations.

Middle School Students

Try hands-on challenges, play interactive games, build robots, and stumble into an interest you didn’t know you had. No pressure. No homework. Just fun.

High School Students

Get hands-on with real equipment and real people doing real things—and pick up leads on internships, programs, and opportunities along the way, if that’s your thing.

Parents & Families

Grab some free food, wander the showcase with your kids, and enjoy an evening that feels more like a community festival than a school event.

03 / WHY

Why we’re doing this

Curiosity deserves
a place to play.

Kids are naturally curious. They want to build, break, question, and explore—they just don’t always get the chance to do it somewhere new.

The Black Hills is full of interesting people doing interesting things: rockets, robots, rescue dogs, mineral collections, medical equipment, and more. Future Ready brings a slice of all of it into one room for one night.

This isn’t about picking a career at age ten. It’s about giving every kid a chance to see, touch, and try something new.

Discover.Explore.Create.Connect.

Whether you’re five or fifty, this evening is designed to make you say “whoa, that’s so cool” at least once.
